Mylnefield Research Services Ltd has excellent connections to the Scottish Crop Research Institute (SCRI). We would therefore be pleased to act as consultants on a wide range of agricultural issues. The Scottish Crop Research Institute also undertakes world leading breeding programmes for potatoes, raspberries and blackcurrants. Mylnefield Research Services Ltd holds a substantial portfolio of plant variety rights for varieties developed by SCRI, which are available for licensing. We also have an excellent track record of undertaking specific breeding programmes for our industrial partners.
Our dedicated lipid analysis laboratory, Mylnefield Lipid Analysis, has extensive experience in working with a wide range of oil seeds. We can provide the following services:
- Fat/oil content determination of seeds and other samples.
- Quantification of degree of unsaturation (iodine numbers)
- Fatty acid profiling and triglyceride analysis of seed oils
- Physical property measurements for seed oils including moisture content and specific gravity.
We would be delighted to use our experience to work with you in developing custom analytical services for new or novel seed oils.
Mylnefield Research Services can also offer a cutting edge profiling service for soil microrganisms eg. nematodes. EnPrint Ltd has developed a suite of state-of-the-art molecular methods for the accurate and rapid profiling of microorganism groups that are both difficult to identify by traditional taxonomy and used as common environmental indicators. The technique allows simple accurate and high-throughput measurement of the abundance of target organisms, whilst removing the subjectivity and mis-identification issues associated with the traditional microscopic approach.
